The Process
We love to create for specific purposes. This is what steel is best at! In large rooms it can define and rationalize space without shrinking it. In small spaces it can be maximally efficient, using the least amount of room to do the most work. It can become what you need it to be.
I will come to your home to see the space, take initial measurements, and we will talk about what you want, what is possible, and how much it is likely to cost. The material to top a table or use in your shelves will be a separate cost.
I source wood, stone, tile, glass, concrete, and copper, but I will explore any idea you have. In bathrooms and kitchens, I can use fixtures you own, those you plan to buy, or I can source for you (though I will want a lot of input from you).
I will send a hand-drawn design in one week via email with a cost estimate. We will meet again to discuss the design, any changes you wish to make and to clarify what is included in the cost estimate.
FAQ
How long will my project take?
Just as a ballpark, you can expect each element to take 7-10 days. A kitchen with two walls of counter and an island would be three elements and you should allow three to four weeks. During this time, we may need access to your home to confirm measurements and small details of the space. We will be in contact with you consistently while we work.
How much do projects cost?
About $100 per linear foot and $100 per door will give you an idea of the base cost. The material to top a table or use in your shelves will be a separate cost and can range from $100/8ft to infinity.
There is a $400 design fee. It will be waived and rolled into your deposit if you decide to move forward. If you decide not to hire Rust, the design will remain yours to do with what you will.
If you decide to do the project, a 50% deposit will be necessary to begin work.
Does Rust do demo or repair work?
We do not do demolition and repair but we are happy to work with you or your contractor to coordinate our contributions to achieve the most efficient result we can.
Does Rust create for outdoor spaces?
Outside, steel is the most durable material you can choose for railings, garden fences, lattices, and furniture. Your fence can stand alone, or be an actor in your garden design, with integrated lattices, hanging baskets, rabbit guards, or anything your imagination demands be made real.
You can expect railings to cost $100 per linear foot. Fencing cost depends on height. A 4ft fence will be around $100/ft, an 8ft fence around $200. Complexity of design will influence cost.
Chairs from $400
Tables from $100-$1,500
Benches from $400
Lattices from $400
Do I have to hire someone to install my project?
When your piece is built you’ll be notified, and then we will come to install it at your earliest convenience. Usually, this will require adjustments to adapt to uneven floors or other variables particular to your space. You should expect installation to require at least two phases of testing and tweaking, which we will work through with you.
